Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center
   The Gunflint Trail Historical Society is a dedicated group of Gunflint Trail residents who have working in agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Superior National Forest, to restore and preserve the historic Chik-Wauk Lodge building. Chik-Wauk will become a museum for the historical society, and the 50-acre grounds, a nature center.

Opening in 2010
Musem exhibits include:
  • Artifacts, recorded historical information & stories of prehistoric peoples, Voyageurs, Native Americans, loggers, miners, resort owners, and residents in rotating exhibits
  • Children's hands-on corner
  • Oral video history center
Nature Center
  • Interpretive trails throughout the 50 acres
  • ADA Accessible bay trail
  • Guides to wildflowers, plants, birds, & geology
  • Setting representative of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
